Description: Elandsheuwel Guest Farm is situated approximately 45 Kilometers from Steytlerville on the main road to Willowmore and is a working Angora goat and Merino sheep farm. Bed and Breakfast or Full Board Accommodation is also offered at the Farm's Homestead in a separate wing of the main house consisting of two well appointed double rooms and a bathroom. Guests can relax next to the pool and enjoy the breathtaking view of the large farm dam and the Baviaanskloof mountains The dam is frequented by Kudus and other game. Elandsheuwel consists of 8000 hectares typical Steytlerville Karoo Bushveld. The Grootrivier mountain range forms the northern border with the rest of the farm covered with interesting rock formations. A large variety of flora grows on the farm with unique succulents typical of the Steytlerville area everywhere. Apart from the usual farm animals game abound giving nature lovers ample opportunity to view them in their natural habitat. The farm offers more than 60 kilometers of farm tracks that can be explored with 4X4 or 4X2 vehicles. From a 4X4 point of view the difficulty levels ranges from easy to advanced. Most of the tracks are also suitable for off road motor bikes, 4X2s and the so-called "soft off roaders". On the farm nature is held in high esteem and responsible off road driving by all visitors, whether 4x4 or off road bikes, is encouraged in order to protect the environment and unique indigenous flora and fauna. Self Catering Accommodation on the farm is in a rustic, comfortable, restored farm homestead situated amongst the mountains in the middle of nowhere. From the stoep one has a spectacular view of the Grootrivier mountains by day and during the evenings the clear Karoo sky allows one ample opportunity to study the stars. The house can sleep 8 persons and has 3 bedrooms with a large living area complete with a fully equipped kitchen. In the evenings light is provided by numerous candles and paraffin lamps creating a cosy atmosphere. In the living room there is an indoor braai for cold winter evenings but during the beautiful clear summer evenings the outdoor braai is usually preferred by our guests. The house is tastefully decorated by your hostess Alicia and you will find all the crockery and other household items catered for - You just need to bring your own clothes, food and drink. For those who prefer a fully catered option we can provide a breakfast/brunch either at the main homestead or alternatively a bush breakfast on top of the mountain where one can not only enjoy the full farm breakfast, but also the magnificent vistas. Whilst driving and/or walking on the farm visitors are bound to see Kudu, Blesbuck, Springbuck, Duiker, Klipspringer, Steenbuck and smaller game such as Dassies and Meerkat. During the night you might encounter nocturnal animals such as Aardvark etc. Elandsheuwel is situated next to the well known Timbilla Game Reserve and guests can easily go for game drives in the game reserve where they will see a variety of game.
