Description: Shayamoya is built entirely from natural materials and blends deliciously into its wild surroundings. There are ten thatch and wood chalets here, decorated in a simple African style (wooden furniture, washstands with ceramic basins and cute little hippo plugs) and each with outdoor showers and a private wooden deck. There's also a pool and an outdoor boma for starlit evening meals.
Enjoy private moments in your own Kingdom, where the view is endless. There are 2 Premium Honeymoon Chalets decorated with thought and style, or relax in one of the 8 luxury chalets, each with a viewing deck to appreciate the breathtaking view.
The chalets are appointed with simple elegance, enhanced by the utmost attention to detail. They are furnished with superior quality beds, ceiling fans, tea and coffee making facilities, ensuite bathrooms leading to secluded outdoor showers.
Mingle at the rustic bar in the open plan entertainment area or relax in the comfy "Out of Africa" lounge. Absorb the panoramic view from the deck by day and the majestic African sky by night.
Refresh with a dip in the swimming pool or cool off in the shade of the gazebo.
Elephanting: This is an educational activity for guests to learn about and gain an understanding of the Pongola Game Reserve elephants which were translocated here in 1997 from the Kruger Park. It is about the challenges facing their future in our fenced and protected areas and although on most occasions you do get good sightings of the bulls and/or herd, this is not guaranteed. Join Brad, the guide, who is highly knowledgeable having studied these magnificent animals closely with the purpose of conducting the “Space for Elephants” Research program. You are assured of an excellent outing. This is a specially requested activity, which requires booking by prior arrangement
Game drives are conducted in an open viewing vehicle on the Pongola Nature Reserve which covers 12000 hectares. You'll appreciate this early morning or sundowner experience siting the wild and yet curious animals while our game ranger enlightens you with interesting facts about the history and nature of the area.
The game reserve hosts 25 animal species: White Rhino, elephant, buffalo, hippo, crocodile, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, kudu, nyala, bushbuck, mountain reedbuck, common reedbuck, red duiker, grey duiker, waterbuck, steenbuck, suni antelope, black backed jackal, wild dog, cerval cat, warthog, bushpig, banded mongoose, legavaan, terrapin and the occasional siting of leopard which roam the slopes of the Lebombo mountains.
Along with a deeply beautiful lake, you've also got over 10 000 hectares of unspoilt bush on your doorstep, which means a variety of activities are offered - tiger fishing, river safaris, game drives, elephanting, canoeing adventures, guided walking trails, bass fishing and of course, gentle saunters to the bar. Experience a friendly and relaxed atmosphere where the Blevin family, who own and manage the lodge, look forward to welcoming you to their bush paradise. Please view the various pages which tell the Shayamoya story and all she offers.
Surrounded by views of the Lebombo Mountains, Pongolapoort Lake and nature reserve this unique lodge offers warm hospitality under thatched wood and stone chalets each having its own outdoor private shower. A restaurant, bar, pool and lapa all add to your comfort and relaxation. Sporting activities include tiger fishing and nearby golf. Game drives, guided walks, elephant tracking, river cruises and even scenic flights are all available.Conference facilities, air charters. Children welcome.
