Lord Fraser … the name itself evokes images of days gone by … of aristocracy and good living … of an atmosphere of old leather, fine cognac and times when life seemed easier and less complicated… Previously Lord Fraser Guest House was the summer residence of the well-known, blind Lord Ian Fraser of Lonsdale. He was the chairman of the board of the once powerful retail business, Frasers in Lesotho. On his death in 1974 Lord Fraser wished his home to become the Ian Fraser Memorial College. After the closing down of Fraser’s Head Office in Wepener in 1988, the buildings were donated to the municipality to be converted into a museum. This never materialised and the property was sold to Willem and Wilna Swanepoel in 1993 and they have turned it at great expense into the present Lord Fraser Guest House. Each double suite was carefully restored to its original style and tastefully decorated to create the authentic feeling. 19 Suites are available, 8 Suites are in the old Fraser House. Room 2 has a double bed and single bed with an en-suite bathroom with a bath. Room 3, "Traders Room", has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom with a bath. Room 4, "Nolan Room", has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Room 5, "Fraser Room", has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. This is the honeymoon suite and has a fireplace. Room 6, "Roche Room", has two double beds and two single beds with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. This room has a fireplace. Room 7, "Van Aardt Room", has a double bed and a single bed with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. This room has a fireplace. Room 8, "Anderson Room", has a double bed with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Room 9, "Nash Room", has a double bed and a single bed with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. This room has a fireplace. Room 10 has two single beds with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. This room is separated from the main guesthouse. Room 11 has two double beds with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. This room is separated from the main guesthouse. Room 12 is situated in the owner’s house and has two single beds. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower. These facilities are shared with room 13. Room 13 is situated in the owner’s house and has two single beds. There is a bathroom with a bath and shower. These facilities are shared with room 12. Room 14 is situated in the owner’s house and has a double bed. There is an en-suite bathroom with a shower. Room 15 has a double bed with two single beds with an en-suite bathroom with a shower. This spacious room is situated next to the owner’s house and offers serene surroundings. Room 16 has a double bed and a single bed with an en-suite bathroom with a bath and shower. This spacious room is situated next to the owner’s house and overlooks the tennis court. The annex is a house on the property with 4 rooms, 2 bathrooms with a bath and shower, and a sitting room. These facilities are shared between the 4 rooms. Annex 1 has two single beds. Annex 2 has a single bed. Annex 3 has a double bed. Annex 4 has a double bed and a single bed. For any 3rd person or child sharing a room, R130 per person. Tour Operators and groups larger than 12 people has to contact Wilna Swanepoel for special rates. The rates include a sumptuous home cooked breakfast. We have secure parking with security guards on duty. We also have laundry service, credit cards are accepted, pets allowed by arrangement, heating and fans in rooms, tea or coffee facilities in rooms, satelite TV in central TV lounge, swimming pool and volleyball.
