Description: A magnificent wildlife sanctuary lies not too far from the bustle of Johannesburg and Pretoria – located close enough to drive comfortably in under two hours.
The malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park ranks among the largest national parks in southern Africa. It is situated on the eroded remains of an extinct alkaline volcanic crater - one of only three such extensive craters in the world. The Pilanesberg countryside comprises numerous hills and broad open plains and is well stocked with game, which includes the Big Five - and over 360 bird species.
Tucked in the expanses of the Park, Legacy Hotels & Resorts International’s luxurious Bakubung Bush Lodge offers an Out of Africa experience.
Built in the shape of a horseshoe, Bakubung offers a huge range of entertainment activities - from a natural rock-hewn swimming pool to flood light tennis courts, beach volleyball, outdoor chess and a children’s adventure playground.
Game drives and bush walks are part of the leisure and wildlife experience at the lodge and qualified field guides accompany guests either on foot or in open-air vehicles as they explore the untamed bush.
Each of the lodge’s 76 rooms and 66 self-catering chalets have been appropriately decorated to reflect the mood and ambience of the bush and are equipped with the necessary amenities to ensure supreme comfort. Each room includes individual air-conditioning, DSTV, direct dial telephones and coffee/tea-making machines.
There are no self catering units.
Enjoy a fine meal at the 84-seater restaurant or relax over a light meal on the terrace overlooking the vastness of the game reserve where occasionally you will be entertained by the antics of the animals who come up close to the fence surrounding the resort.
And at the end of each adventure-filled day, watch the fiery sunset while sipping a cocktail and listening to the crackling bush braai which forms part of the exotic dinner buffet.
In addition, the peace and tranquility of the bush combined with excellent conference facilities, provide the ideal setting for productive meetings and seminars comfortably seating up to 120 delegates.
