Pretoria is known as the Jacaranda City for all the purple blossom-bedecked trees, which line its thoroughfares. Pretoria is a lovely quiet city. It has a long involved and fascinating history. Here you will find many significant old buildings and some fascinating museums.

The Union Buildings is set in terraced gardens modeled on the famous Villa d’Este at Tivoli near Rome, Italy, with magnificent views of the city. The gardens of the Union Buildings are home to another group of memorial structures. Today, the Union Buildings in Pretoria still house the offices of the South African State President.
